National HPE day at John Wollaston

Health & Physical Education (HPE) Day is a nationwide initiative by ACHPER Australia that highlights the importance of HPE in the Australian Curriculum, and its influence on the learning and development of children.  This year National Health and Physical Education Day was held on Wednesday 6 September, and a number of schools in WA registered for the event.

John Wollaston Anglican Community School was one of the schools celebrating HPE day this year.  During extended House Group and lunch time students participated in a range of physical activities including tug-o-war, skipping, circuits, flag relays and team events such as dodge ball.

Ms Lonneke Holleman, ACHPER WA member and Head of Health & Physical Education at John Wollaston said that it was fantastic to see students and staff whole-heartedly participate and reap the benefits of daily exercise.

Put national HPE day in your 2018 calendar!  It’s a great opportunity to showcase the value of both HPE teachers and participation in exercise.  The website has a great range of resources for you to download and run your event.
