Resume and Job Application workshop

Review

The Resume and Job Application workshop was held on Monday 14th May.  Alison Lang, from Beilby consulting, ran the workshop for ACHPER WA.  Her experience as a former HPE teacher tied in well with her wide range of consultancy work in resume review and applicant selection.

The workshop gave participants a great insight into:
  • Pulling out the critical information from a job advertisement
  • How to structure a CV
  • Relevant and irrelevant content in a CV
  • Writing an application that addresses the job criteria correctly
  • What to do to get the edge over other applicants

Workshop participants went through a range of activities in which they identified how to improve their current CV, and application language exercises. The wide range of “insider” tips and hints will certainly give attendees a lot to work with on their next application.

What participants had to say:

“I gained knowledge of the exact content required of applications”
“I know now not to be intimidated to contact the person in the advert to ask about the role”
“It was good to learn how panels assess applications”
