ACHPER WA Annual Conference 2016

Review

ACHPER WA was pleased to host more than 150 teachers from across Western Australia at the 2016 conference held at Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley on 21 & 22 November. We salute those who attended for their professionalism.

26 presenters combined to present 30 sessions, a keynote address, an ACHPER bits session and a closing session. National ACHPER President Dr Shane Pill delivered the keynote address on Monday as well as three very popular concurrent sessions. Barry Paveling, Donna Barwood, Erin Campbell, Matt Donaldson and Mark Clayden presented some interesting and sometimes controversial information at the ACHPER bits session while the Very Reverend Richard Pengelley hosted the closing session with Olympic water polo players Tibor Seres and Zoe Aranacini, affirming the work that teachers of health and physical education do.

The Board wishes to acknowledge those teachers who took their professionalism to another level and presented to colleagues and peers:
– Martha Baker
– Aaron Buckenara
– Rick Bunn
– Louise Chapman
– Matt Donaldson
– Stephen Posthuma with the support of Carly Phoebe
– Ella Simmons
– Craig Thomas
– Leith Woods with the support of Jasmine Davies

Their contribution to the success of the conference was outstanding. Thank you very much.

Two lucky delegates, Brigit Wall and Rachel Smith, each won a $150 Slater Gartrell ‘trade display visit voucher’ and thirty door prizes were given away.

We hope that in 2017 more teachers will come forward to share some ideas or innovations they, or their department, is undertaking. The sharing and networking blue of the annual state conference can not be underestimated.
