One in five high school students and one in 10 primary school students feel unsafe…
Reports recently released by the Commissioner for Children and Young People focus on the factors that influence a student’s level of engagement in school.
Alarmingly, these report state that one in five high school students and one in 10 primary school students feel unsafe. For those of you based in schools these figures may not be surprising and for some, may under represent the feelings of the students at your school.
Not surprisingly, the report also identified the quality of student/teacher relationships as a critical factor in supporting our young people to feel safe but also, as a means to helping students navigate family issues.
In response and also to other similar reports, ACHPER is developing a mid-year Wellbeing Conference aimed at supporting positive, respectful relationships. Please slot in this one-day conference as a must do for 2018.
