ACHPER National Announces 2018 Award Recipients

Congratulations to ACHPER WA President Dr Donna Barwood on receiving an ACHPER Fellow Award.

Fellowship recipients have served their state branch with energy and commitment, and been influential, hard working and supportive of colleagues in their workplace and within ACHPER’s committees, projects and events.  Donna has made a massive contribution to ACHPER over the years in supporting professional development for teachers, playing an active role on the ACHPER WA Board, and is now ACHPER WA President, making her a worthy recipient of a Fellow Award.

Read the citation put forward below:

Donna, you are a tireless, passionate and effective advocate for both ACHPER  and Health. You have provided willing and unconditional support to ACHPER, through your membership of the WA Branch Board over a number of years, and your involvement as a facilitator and presenter in ACHPER’s professional development program in a wide range of Health topics, again over many of years.

By example, you have demonstrated the characteristics of a true professional – you support your colleagues, you campaign for high standards of professional preparation and you are hard working in your endeavours to promote quality health education.

The many committees you have sat on and the many opportunities you take to share of your extensive knowledge and expertise has impacted on health education across Western Australia. ACHPER WA Branch and members of the teaching profession and health communities have benefited greatly from your contribution. You are a most worthy recipient of the ACHPER Fellow Award.

On receiving the Award:

“I have to say I have been truly blown away by the wonderful support and commendations I have received from my friends, colleagues and associates with regard to my induction to the rank of ACHPER Fellow. It was a terrific surprise and a very moving moment. Thank you to those who contributed to the citation and supported my nomination. I am truly grateful.” Donna Barwood.

Congratulations Donna!
